The Romeo Catchers The Casquette Girls Alys Arden Books
As an avid reader I have found that I can read almost anything quickly and never feel like I have overlooked something. Even the best books I have a great memory with. I must say that with The Romeo Catchers it was different. This book is amazing! As a sequel you have two options, high hopes being dashed or knocking it out of the park. Alys Arden knocked this out of the park. From the second I picked it up I could not put it down. She has laced this book with an immense amount of beautifully descriptive myths and legends of NOLA, all of the old world richness of Italy hundreds of years ago, and pulling it all together into a modern day story of a coven trying to work together, but realizing that is much harder than it seems. I will definitely be re-reading this book, partially out of necessity purely based on how many times I questioned what I just read and if it actually happened. Making the decision to purchase this book was easy for me. If you like witches, vampires, shape shifters, New Orleans, Italy, history, and the ability to find beauty in the details this book is for you.

The Romeo Catchers The Casquette Girls Alys Arden Books Reviews
Reading an Alys Arden book is like taking a vacation. Her books make you feel like you're an actual part of the French Quarter. Completely immersive and her love of her city shines through each and every page. You end up feeling as if you are living and breathing the city right along with the characters. I absolutely adore that about these books!
I loved watching the Coven come together and getting to know some new characters as well as getting more background stories from characters we already know and love. Getting to know Niccolo better was quite endearing. I don't know what Arden is trying to do to my heart, but I don't think I could possibly be any more conflicted between Niccolo and Isaac at this point! Seeing Adele and Isaac's relationship flourish in this book was so sweet. I can plainly see that they are pretty darn wonderful together. But even with Niccolo being out of sight, he was never out of mind, and seeing him as this young determined dreamer with so many hopes of a bright future tugged at each one of my heartstrings. I don't even know what I want at this point! I am DYING to see what happens in the next book.
I was really excited to see more of the witch magic throughout the story. It was a lot of fun watching Adele, Isaac and Dee building up their coven and finding their place. I am very eager to see this group grow and flourish! I am completely intrigued by their individual growing powers as well! That ending was OUT OF CONTROL. You could tell that it was building to something huge towards the end, and it did not disappoint. I have no idea what will happen next in this story, but I can't wait to find out!
Probably one of the best paranormal books I've read in a LONG time. Probably one of the best novels, period. I was introduced when my mom went to New Orleans at one of the shops and the shop owner (who is in the end acknowledgements) recommended the first one.
I was SO engrossed. Most times when I read a 'good' book, even an average, I almost mourn the end. This one, I can't say I didn't mourn the lack of more pages, because the book was satisfying. It gave me enough of an end, but enough to want to know more.
I want to read the next one NOW. Before reading this one, I reread the first one, and I tore through it just like the first time.
The writing is GOOD, as in well-written. You WILL mourn the fact that this writer is new, but only because she doesnt' have other books to occupy your time while you wait for the next one.
The one built on the previous, but held it's own. It was ENGROSSING. And it reminded me of why I love to read. There was no amazing development of characters and the story only to let you down with a fast ending. This was consistent all the way through. A good GOOD read.
I almost wish I hadn't read it, if ONLY so I could have the experience of reading it again for the first time. Amazing.
She reminds me of what I used to love about Laurell K. Hamilton. I still like Hamilton, but the thrill and love I felt through this book was reminiscent of what got me started down this genre with Laurell. Only, I think she may be better - and she only has one way to go...up up up up.
If you are on the fence. Please, read it. YOu won't regret it.
