Zed Zed Trilogy edition by Stephen Herfst Literature Fiction eBooks
I am at a loss to describe how much I enjoyed this book. I did a blog post just about getting ready to review it, and then I reread it so that Zed would be fresh in my mind. So much is wanting to be said.Imagine being the only zombie who can think. Do you belong with other zombies, or should you avoid them? You would have to wonder, why me? Why am I the only one, and where do I belong?
Zed chooses a life of seclusion, away from zombies and humans alike. That is until one eventful night when he encounters Chase. Thrown together by chance, they stay together to survive. There is danger for a young girl in these times, especially one traveling alone. Not to mention the human horde that wants to kill and mount all zombies they come across. Maybe, if they work together, Chase and Zed can make it to a safe zone and live their lives in peace.
I am still struggling to tell you about this story. It is much more than the gratuitous zombies eating people scenes, of which there are some doozies. It is also funny, like when Zed goes to the maul. And Chase, man is she a firecracker. She provides the spark and sets this book on fire. You can not help but love her.
Let me tell you, this book is an amazing read. There are so many ups and downs, spins and teeth-clenching thrills inside. It is unlike any other zombie book you have read and you should not miss out. Get Zed and get reading. I hear there are two more books to come and I can't wait!
I gave this 5 STARS and then some!

Zed Zed Trilogy edition by Stephen Herfst Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
There's something about zombies that doesn't necessarily call my attention. It could be that I'm a bit chicken about dead things eating living things. When the author reached out to me to read this book he was so nice about the whole thing that I had to give it a try. He gifted me a code but I didn't use it in time. Because I promised to read/review I went ahead and purchased it. I'm really glad I did.
This story is so unique and so well put together that I couldn't help but to be in awe. It was fun to be part of Zed's world. Zed is no ordinary zombie. He is a very smart zombie who is very comfortable in his ways. He likes to be invisible to everyone, zombies and humans alike, to read and enjoy his eternal life. However, just because he likes to be invisible doesn't mean he's not aware of said zombies and humans. He is very aware of them which is why he rather stay away. Well, all is great with the world until he meets Chase. Chase is a young human girl who literally turns his world upside down. When Zed loses his home to a fire he takes up Chase on her offer to take him to a new home. This is when the adventure begins.
It was fun, action packed, cute, and so funny! I loved it all including the very mysterious ending that sealed the deal. I have to pick up the next book in the series. I think everyone should read this and take a chance on a very unique take on zombies. Go read it now!
Zed was a slightly different look at the zombie apocalypse, it was different in that the POV was from Zed, a slightly more human zombie. I enjoyed his inner dialogue, even when he occasionally rambled on about things that were a little trivial. Couple his inner dialogue with the rambunctious Chase and you have yourself the makings of an interesting tale.
Zed grows as a character throughout the story, he was initially one-dimensional and flat, much like the zombie he should be, but by the end of the book he was more 'human' than I think he should have been. Chase's human-ness rubbed off and he began to feel things and think of things and learn things he never thought were possible for a zombie.
This was a story of self discovery and showcased a lot of good themes for young adults (as this book clearly is aimed at - the writing is certainly well written for the YA crowd). The growing friendship between Chase and Zed is slowly built upon, it's not rushed, no one falls insanely in love with the other only minutes after meeting them or any of that all-too-familiar storyline. It progressed nicely and finished in a good place.
The main thing I didn't like was how Zed seemed to know so much about everything (except for convenient, or quite possibly intended 'inconvenient' things) and the explanation that he learnt all this from TV or reading seemed a little far-fetched. I felt this gave the whole story a little bit too much 'fake' which threw the whole thing off for me. Every time Zed uttered something about learning it from TV I inwardly cringed.
This issue aside, I enjoyed Zed and Chase's journey. I would also happily pick up another book by Stephen, just to see how he goes with something other than zombies and Zed's humor.
*NOTE I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review*
